Alter—Citizenship: Reshaping the Act of Inhabiting the City

"AlterCitizenship: Reshaping the Act of Inhabiting the City", by Ana Jara and Marcos Coronel, is the title of issue 7 of the Alter—Journals collection, created as part of the Porto Design Biennale.
Between Lisbon and Caracas, Ana Jara (Artéria) and Marcos Coronel (PICO Colectivo)
debate ways of combating the segregation created by conventional urbanism. In this
issue of the Alter—Journals collection, dedicated to alternative ways of inhabiting the city and building citizenship, the editors and guests propose the creation of communities based on encounter and attention as an antidote to growing inequalities.
According to the book's editorial, "Alter-Citizenship goes against the linear order and the pre-defined rules of the game of political correctness or learnt doctrines". "It means taking sides, risking your own skin," challenge Ana Jara and Marcos Coronel, who propose in this book "never to wait for a miracle solution, but to be part of the answer that needs to be built."
